A BATHROOM TO ENJOY EVERY DAY 'Our bathroom must be first of all neat and tidy' says Izabella, 'so we stow everyday items in the large vanity unit, everything else is stored in the hallway cabinet.' Woven carpets, a hand carved wooden stool, jute laundry baskets and shells collected on the nearby coast lend the place some cosiness.
PLAYING WITH OPPOSITES
Black, white and grey dominate the colour layout in Izabella and Lennart's home, including in the bathroom: The basin mixer taps in Matt Black beautifully contrast with the white marble top and ceramic. The bath and shower mixer taps elegantly complement the large, light grey stone tiles.
The two home owners, Izabella and Lennart, put much personal effort into renovating their semi-detached Gründerzeit villa. Izabella, born in the Carpathians and now studying to become a teacher, has been posting about their home's makeover on Instagram since 2018. There she provides her steadily growing fan community with inspiring before-and-after pictures. Her good sense of design and architecture shows in stylish interior details and DIY projects. Beautiful details transform daily routines into Izabella's favourite moments. So candles and plants are her bathroom must-haves: Plants add life to the tiled room, and candles make a warm bath still cosier.
THE BATHROOM BECOMING A PLACE OF WELL-BEING
A tiny, dark bathroom with a small window hatch became a spacious, bright room. 'We re-stored the old window opening and removed the wall to the former kitchen to create a light-flooded bathroom with two large windows', Izabella explains their concept. Having done the bathroom planning on their own, they left reconstruction itself, like installation and tiling, to the pros.
MATT & EXQUISITE The couple makes a clear, modern style statement in their bathroom – with mixer taps in Matt Black: Mixer tap series' 100 high-grade engineering and pleasant feel to the touch immediately appealed to both of them.
CLEAN LOOK They opted for concealed mixers for shower and washbasin, as they give the room a neat atmosphere.
