Small but WOW!

HOW DO YOU TRANSMUTE A SMALL BATHROOM INTO A GREAT EVENT? Sarah of sardoe knows how it goes.

WELCOME TO 'SPARADISE' – Sarah and her family's little spa oasis. The tastefully decorated bathroom is a real stowage miracle: Interior specialist Sarah has each square metre perfectly planned and put to good use.

She and her husband had already merged two tiny rooms in their owner-occupied flat in Hamburg into a small bathroom eleven years ago.  'But our bathroom never had enough stowage and was in no way up to our needs', Sarah explains.  So they decided to revive the project.

After weeks of preparations and replanning their new bathroom began to emerge, which was bound to meet all of the family's requirements.

WELL BEGUN IS MUCH DONE
'Stowage is the name of the game in the small bathroom – every nook and cranny should be used smartly', Sarah knows. So the shower doesn't have the traditional square layout but is a cleverly designed corner shower with a wall recess for shampoo and shower gel. Wash basin and cabinet became a perfect, coherent unit with much stowage for bathroom utensils. And the unwieldy washing machine? Has been simply built into a custom made rack, following Sarah's idea: 'I love to combine different stowage options – this keeps things neat and tidy and makes nice eye-catchers.'

About Sarah

When Sarah was heavily pregnant twelve years ago, she and her husband bought the bright and nice flat in Hamburg. In the meantime they are five – with their two kids, Hanni and Maxi, and the dog, Diego.
The hurly-burly family live, children's birthday parties, holiday trips and interior design – that's what Sarah writes about in her blog sardoe and on Instagram. There she gives many tips and inspiration to make living in your own home still nicer – in a style quite matching her own self: natural, pleasant and personal.

Enough space for much air of well-being

Without question, this bathroom invites to linger: 'As soon as the kids are in bed I disappear into the bathroom and take my time. A definite must-have: the rain shower!  It's the best thing to relax after a busy day', Sarah enthuses over her new bathroom fit-out. And what is she dreaming about then? 'Of a few square metres more for a freestanding bath tub!' So the next project may come.

About Sarah
About Sarah

'Minimalistic with much character' – This is how Sarah describes her bathroom fit-out concept. Much white with pinpoint accents of matt black, and a warm brown-beige for decor and accessories give the bathroom a clean, consistent look with a natural touch.
What's striking are the graphic-modern design of the heating, and natural objects like the sculptural root next to the basin. Mixer taps in shiny chrome add the highlights, complementing the exquisite overall look.

THINK BIG!
With restricted space, perfect planning is of the essence. Every free spot should be well used. This is why Sarah and her husband didn't plan their bathroom in one day but allowed themselves a few weeks.

Reconstruction

ACHIEVING TRUE GREATNESS: Well chosen colours make a room look quite a bit larger. Sarah missed the light, above all, in her old bathroom. Beige, yellow and brown dominated, making it look small and cluttered. Thanks to her minimalistic and modern concept of black and white contrasts Sarah's bathroom looks much tidier and ample now.
